5 Things You Must Learn to Treat with Loving Kindness

You can love yourself. Right now, you can turn within and take a moment to love who you are. Be grateful for who you are. Be excited to be who you are. The power of this loving activation is that when stepping out into the world, even without saying a thing, you will activate others to love themselves.

And so. Whatever it is, love it.

Often, we seek to love ourselves through external accomplishments. If we lose that twenty pounds, we are worthy of loving ourselves. If someone else falls in love with us, or is proud of us, we can then fall in love and be proud of ourselves.

This external spiral is temporary, groundless, and unstable. We have all experienced what it is like when this is taken away. When you put back on the weight, or lose another's love. It is not fun to say the least.

When we turn within, and love ourselves first... this provides a stable base. This feels good. This brings us joy and the ability to outpour our love onto others.

But first comes the work.

1.) Your Body. This is your vehicle through which you get to be here on this planet. Whether or not you like it is another story. You must love it. Love it the way it is. Be kind to it. It is serving you in an enormous way.

2.) Your Emotions. Anger, sadness, frustration... all are powerful teachers. Hot emotions like anger, impatience, frustration are like a raging fire that can burn away what is no longer serving you. Allow them space to do their work. Allow them space to speak to you, not to another, but to you. Cool emotions like sadness, depression, and melancholy are like water... cleansing you for deep healing. Again, allow them to do their work. Allow it to move through you. You can cultivate loving-kindness toward these powerful and often uncomfortable teachers. (I am a big advocate of seeking professional help for challenging times.)

3.) Your History. It has brought you here. It has made you who you are. It is evidence not only that your thoughts create your experiences, but that you can create differently for yourself if you so choose. Embrace your history as a powerful history lesson. Love your history.

4.) Your Present Circumstances. When you learn to love where you are, then you will allow flow to be in your life. Flow is what facilitates change.

5.) YOU. You are good enough. You are worthy of love. You are worthy of all you heart desires. You are a unique idea in the mind of the Universe. The idea of you is perfect, whole, and complete, lacking nothing. The idea that is you is essential to the fabric of our global tapestry. You are in integral part of this world. You bring something to this planet that no one else has ever brought... not since the history of time. You are special. You are loved. Tap into this, and choose to love yourself just for showing up to this life experience. We all know that showing up is often the biggest part of any endeavor. You showed. up. You have arrived.
