For all you Tantric Philosophers

Did I gettcha with the mention of Tantra? Well, Tantra is a vedic philosophy based in non-dualism. Any yogis going to Kundalini or Anusara yoga will know of this. Fabulous. I highly recommend investigating it. Anyhoo...

The 19th sutra of the Pratyabhijna-hrdayam—basically, a Kashmir Saivite (Tantric) scripture— says, “The permanent attainment of samadhi is established by contemplating one’s identity with Consciousness again and again in the state following meditation, which is full of the imprints of Samadhi.“ Samadhi is defined as the state of absorption in the Self, or God consciousness.

So this is a good thing, it’s a good directive. In order to maintain that yummy, blissful feeling of oneness with higher consciousness, just keep replaying what you have found to be your “Ah-ha, God moment.”

Kinda like how when you’re first in love with someone and you replay that moment you met, or that moment you shared “I love you.” I remember when I first met my husband…we were email fanatics. We would send these really witty, flirty emails several times a day. I have re-read each one at least 50 times. In fact, I still go back and read some of these and we’ve been together for six years! Why do I do this? Because it evokes that oh-so-in-love feeling. It makes me see him in that dreamy guy light again. That feeling never went away, it’s just now layered with lots of other stuff like dishes, and dirty clothes, past fights, etc… when I revisit the purity of our coming together, it comes to the forefront, and everything else take the back seat : ) He comes home and I see him as that funny, dreamy guy again. What I choose to think about becomes my reality.

There is a word for this in Sanskrit: samskara. It means, mental impressions. Literally, imprints. A modern word for this would be tapes, or mental patterns. They can be negative or positive. I think we all have a similar issue with this— I’m willing to bet we all play those negative tapes waaaaaay more than the positive ones. The mental impressions that say “I’m not good enough,” or” I’m too fat, too tall, too short, or my husband never does the dishes!” Why do we do this? This only creates more suffering! We could be saying, “I’m worthy, I’m beautiful, I’m a unique idea of God expressing itself in dynamic and loving ways!” How would this change your life, your world?

Close your eyes. What are the tapes you choose to play? Some may be good ones. Keep those. The invitation here is to change the ones that no longer support the reality you wish to see.

Thank you, Julie.
Every time I take the time to read an article you've written, I am inspired. I am reminded that when we honor the benevolent source which supports everything we do, we create space to flourish. There is always time to readjust our thinking. We can't afford NOT to do it for ourselves.... when we dream big and want to live without limitation!
