Shake-ups are not so fun, eh? You lose an idea, an expectation, a dream... life throws you back into the nothingness and you are asked to build anew. I like the idea of re-building, but first you must get past that icky feeling of having to let go of something you probably really liked and were quite attached to. This is when most of us like to self-medicate. Whatever your numbing medicine is, try this prescription instead.

Prescription for the Shake-ups..
*
1.) Try a new perspective; things are not falling apart, they are falling away. You are not having a breakdown, rather a breakthrough.
*
2.) Recognize that you have begun to step into a bigger way of being, the smaller way no longer fits and is ready to be bagged for the salvation army.
*
3.) Get to know the new that is emerging. Look for it. Feel into it. Listen for it. It is subtle, but if you can quite the chaos of your surface mind, you can hear it.
*
4.) Ask yourself, "What about me is seeking to expand in a newer, bigger way?" If you have lost a relationship, for example, ask yourself, "What was not fulfilled in this relationship that is now desiring fulfillment?"
*
5.) Don't over-share your shake-up. This is a sacred rite of passage, careful that you only share with those that can appreciate the sacred-ness, and respect your choices as to how best to move through this.
*
6.) Take a walk in nature. Nature can tell you many things of love, abundance, peace, and harmony. Let it help you begin to heal.
*
7.) Sit with your pain. Allow it to have a voice. Allow it space to grieve, to vent, to burn away the old. Allow yourself to be in the experience without seeking to numb it, fix it, or even to replace it with positive thoughts. It needs space to air out. It's okay to be pissed, or sad, or lonely.
*
8.) Care for yourself. This might mean a grilled-cheese sandwich or a trip to a therapist's office. Do what you know needs to be done. Take that nap, watch movies all day, punch pillows, cry all week... then sign up for that juicy retreat in Sedona that you feel so strongly about, or that strange class that sounds so interesting.
*
9.) Receive love. This might come in the form of a snuggle from your dog, lunch with a friend, or a stranger engaging you in conversation. Love is all around. Open yourself to receive it.
